Abigail Piddleton guest Isabel Randolph (29:37) - 6.8mb Heiress Abigail Piddleton's money is the new apple of Archie's
eye so, not wanting to offend her, he turns the tavern into a tea room. (Fats Pinchon does a song; Finnegan's funeral party
story; Ms Duffy's family story). Archie plans to pass his newphew Morton off as his son in order to give the impression he's
a family man. Ms Duffy plays the tea room's gypsy fortune teller but Abigail sees through everything. In a last ditch effort,
Archie says his son needs an operation, with Finnegan as Dr. Slaughter, but Morton let's the cat out of the bag.
Academy Award guest Paul Lucas (30:09) - 6.9mb Archie Plans to honor Paul Lucas with the "Duffy's Academy Award"
but the tally is hardly unanimous when votes also come in for Bette Davis and Lassie. Paul Lucas breaks the tie when he learns
the award is a year's worth of meals at Duffy's. Paul's dinner speech is memorable.
Accident Insurance guest Gene Tierney (31:09) - 7.1mb Finnegan takes out accident insurance. Archie is obsessed with
Gene Tierney, and tries to persuade her to return his affections. She insists on going to the Stork Club, and Archie plans
Finnegans Wake to collect Double Indemnity so he can pay for the night out. Finnegan refuses to die, and Gene is already married
anyway.
Anonymous Valentine guest Shelley Winters (26:37) - 6.1mb While going through the daily mail, Archie gets an unsigned valentine.
He enlists the help of the gang to make sure no woman gets him in her clutches. When Shelley Winters shows up, Archie falls
to pieces and persaudes her to marry him, but the gang live up to their promise and break it up.
Archie Quits guest Jinx Falkenberg (29:29) - 6.8mb Archie intends to leave Duffy's employ, and puts together a performance
troupe for Jinx Falkenberg's trip to Europe to entertain the troops. Jinx is happy to help the gang persuade Archie to remain
at Duffy's.
Archie Wants To Propose (31:01) - 7.1mb Archie is still in love and wants to propose marriage to Phoebe,
a society girl. Phoebe shows up and Archie plans to be honest with her, but naturally things don't go as planned and he says
he's related to Lord (Uncle) and Lady (Auntie) Beaverstream, who Phoebe insists on meeting. So, Archie introduces them, played
by Finnegan and Ms Duffy, to Phoebe Da Perth Vandersmythe Smith. The real Beaverstreams are guests at Phoebe's home
so the masquerade fails.
Archie's Fiance guest Tony Martin (22:41) - 5.2mb Archie has a date with society girl, Ms Pamela Smythe. Archie
compares himself to Tony Martin who sings "Enjoy Yourself." Finnegan trains Tony to impersonate Duffy in order to impress
Ms Smythe's father, but instead he steals Archie's girl.
Balancing The Books guest Gary Moore (28:33) - 6.6mb Duffy hires an accountant to find the shortfall in the books.
Archie becomes worried he'll be fired when the truth is found out, and arranges to host "The Sixty Four Dollar Question" from
the tavern so he can use the prize money to balance the books.
Buying an Army Surplus Helicopter (27:03) - 6.2mb Archie is going to buy a surplus aeroplane from Slippery McGwire.
Eddie and Ms Duffy are skeptical. He pays fourteen bucks for a helicopter and Slip leaves to go get it. Meanwhile, Archie
explains his theory of aviation to Finnegan. Slippery returns without the plane. The deal has to be cleared through washington
first, which they do, but the propeller is extra as is the hangar. Slip takes the money and leaves to go get the plane. He
returns to sell Archie wings, and again a parachute, and again the landing gear. But the stuff can't be delivered unless Archie
has a pilot's license. Clancy comes in to arrest 'you know who.'
Card Games guest Charles Coburn (29:50) - 6.8mb Archie wants to hire Charles Coburn as the door man. Eddie beats
Archie at cards but won't loan him a dollar. Ms Duffy wants Tyrone Power to visit the tavern. Finnegan couldn't sleep the
night before; he beats Archie at cards. Enter Charles Coburn. After a few jokes about age and Ms Duffy flirts with Coburn,
Archie offers him the job as door man. Duffy insists they test his character before hiring him, so they'll get him in a game
of poker. Coburn beats Archie at cards.
Carmen guest Ed Wynn (29:48) - 6.8mb Archie went to the opera the night before and wrote an opera the
day after. Enter Ed Wynn with a string of bad jokes. Archie, who can't get a word in, asks Ed to be his commentator for the
opera. The opera: Don Jose (Archie) and Don Schlamillio (Finnegan) love Don Carmen (Ms Duffy) but she loves herself (also
Ms Duffy); in the end, everybody dies... and so does Archie's career in music.
Christmas guest Monty Wooley (29:28) - 6.8mb Finnegan's smarter kid brother visits, Ms Duffy hangs misletoe
everywhere, and Archie asks a cantankerous Monty Wooley to be Santa Claus at the tavern. Duffy surprises Archie with a christmas
gift.
Draft Board Girl (27:06) - 6.2mb Peaches LaTour, the stripper, calls off her engagement with Archie
who swears off women until Mary-ann, the draft board girl, comes into the tavern. Trying to impress her, Archie says he's
only twenty-four years old which results in him being drafted. Naturally, he has to do some squirming to get out of it.
Duffy's Astoria guest Gracie Fields 1 (30:54) - 7.1mb Archie wants to turn the tavern into a hotel, and rents out the
back room to Crackpot O'Toole who pays with crisp new bills. Gracie Fields sings a medley which includes "Does Eat Oats And
Little Lambs Eat Ivy." Archie tries to lure Ms Fields away from the Waldorf but she has to audition first so she sings "Leave
Us Face It, We're In Love." She's hired but turns the job down when Archie unwittingly pays her using Crackpot's counterfeit
money.

street. After inept labor negotiations, Archie hires a new waiter - former boxer Maxie Rosenblum who has trouble adjusting
to the routine at the tavern.
Farmer Archie (28:39) - 6.6mb Archie recieves a potted plant as a gift and it sends him into
a nostalgic frenzy for nature. Turns out Ms McGillicuddy, the nurse, sent the plant. Despite objections, Archie wants to turn
the backyard into a farm. He tries to sell Calucci, the vegetable man, the fruits of his labor. Turns out the backyard is
concrete and his "eucalyptus" plant is really poison ivy. Sound has cross talk.
Fashion Show guest Esther Williams (20:14) - 4.6mb Archie plans a fashion show for the tavern but can't get models
to work in it or reporters to cover it. Esther Williams agrees to model but only if she can wear a paris gown specially-made
for her. As usual, things don't work out as planned. Sound has cross talk.
Fathers Day guest Chiquita Juarez (30:55) - 7.1mb Archie gets sentimental about not having any kids and decides
he wants to marry Chiquita Juarez to start a family; but she won't have anything to do with him until she meets his "rich"
father, played by Finnegan, and when she does they run off together.
Ladies Literary Society (27:49) - 6.4mb Mrs Piddleton and the Lord Byron Ladies Literary Society will
meet at the tavern tonight. Eddie is missing; turns out he's been drafted. Archie offers Yosha Panyaslovnyk, the music teacher,
the new waiter position. After he hears Ms Duffy sing he accepts the job. H.B. Keltonborn calls to excuse himself from moderating
Mrs Piddleton's open forum. Archie asks Yosha to stand in. The forum is conducted like a question and answer period, with
some strange questions and even stranger answers which leads to a brawl.
Leave Us Face It We're In Love guest Dinah Shore (23:41) - 5.4mb Archie composes "Leave Us Face It, We're In Love" and plans to
make overtures to Dinah Shore who he doesn't know has been recently married. Dinah reluctantly sings the song, then confesses
her new 'room mate' is actually George Montgomery. Cameo appearance by Joan Davis.
Making A Movie guest Larry Storch (23:26) - 5.4mb Archie writes a movie script about his life story but has trouble
raising the money to get it filmed. Larry Storch, the impressionist, helps out by imitating the entire cast in a preview scene
in which big movie stars express their trepidation over Archie's hollywood success. The plan doesn't work.
Pierre The Singing Dog guest Verna Felton (30:32) - 7.0mb Archie wants to go on the radio with Finnegan's singing dog. He
buys the dog but then learns it was stolen. Officer Clancy comes with Verna Felton, the real owner, to arrest Archie who tries
to pin it back on Finnegan, but it turns out to be the wrong dog. Pierre refuses to sing because of Archie's treatment of
Finnegan.
Pure Food Inspector (27:53) - 6.4mb Archie tries to get Ward healer McGinnis, the politician, to pay
his tab but instead is persuaded to run for pure food inspector - a one candidate race. Lopey Balagair sings for his supper.
Archie practices his victory speech and dreams of getting elected mayor, governor, president. He uses Peaches LaTour's picture
on campaign buttons and as a result she gets elected pure food inspector.
Renewing The Lease guest Arthur Treacher (26:58) - 6.2mb While the gang clean up after a fight the night before, they get
word the bank won't renew the lease on the building. After some pleading, the bank agrees to a second chance. Archie plans
to hire Arthur Treacher to help give the tavern a facelift, but his efforts to edify the staff lead to a brawl.
Stolen Sandwich guest Peter Lorre (27:19) - 6.3mb Mrs Well's talking bird (a myna bird) performs. Ms Duffy is hesitant
about flirting with a ghoulish character like Peter Lorre... who wants to play a wider range of roles. Meantime, a sandwich
is stolen from the free buffet and a police investigation and trial ensues.
Stumblebum (29:16) - 6.7mb Archie inherits half a race horse, Stumblebum, from his old pal
Rheinlander McGurk. Naturally, he turns horse expert. Stumblebum is a hundred to one, so Archie bets two bucks to win. We
hear the race on the radio, but the twenty five year old horse dies just before the finish line. The other owner bet five
hundred dollars. It was Duffy.
The Actor's Club guest Vincent Price (27:59) - 6.4mb Archie wants to swank up the place by turning the tavern into
an actor's club and will get things rolling by asking Vincent Price to join. Ms Duffy's boy friend, Rodney Maximillion Haybinder,
the barber. Eddie and Archie set up the game room. Enter Vincent Price. Archie likens himself to Price. He meets Finnegan
and Ms Duffy. Duffy wants Price to audition; he does but Duffy rejects his membership.
The Annulment guest Marie McDonald (30:53) - 7.1mb Archie puts on that he's rich in order to impress Marie McDonald
who he just saw in a movie. Much to his surprise, she agrees to get married. Archie panics and wants to get an annulment.
Ms Duffy plays the part of his wife but doesn't discourage her. Finnegan plays his son and that doesn't discourage her either,
but he let's it slip Archie's lost his fortune so Marie goes back to her husband.
The Christmas Raffle guest Joan Bennet (30:30) - 7.0mb The gang has trouble selling raffle (for the needy) tickets for
a diamond tiara. Archie thinks a kiss for the winner from Joan Bennet will pick up sales. Joan agrees with the kiss for the
raffle. The tickets sell like hot cakes. The draw will be made from a derby. Finnegan doesn't want to win so he puts his ticket
in the hat band. Archie rigs the draw so he'll win, but Joan picks Finnegan's ticket.
The Fashion Lecture guest Arthur Treacher (26:58) - 6.2mb Archie writes a lecture on men's fashions, From The Fig Leaf
To The Zipper, for Arthur Treacher. A lot of chatter about clothes, an exchange of insults, and Treacher's career. Arthur
is delighted to deliver Archie's lecture to the Policemen's Annual Friday Night Footbath And Discussion Club. Clancy and company
are offended and want to arrest whoever is responsible. Archie blames Treacher and suggests he wear stripes.
The First Full Length Visit (29:38) - 6.8mb John Kirby and His High Schoolians perform Royal Garden Blues.
Gertrude Niessen sings a romba. Duffy wants an Irish tenor or he'll fire Archie. Colonel Stoopnagle (inventor of the sawed-on
shot gun, bathroom door, and beer) is an Irish tenor and sings My Wild Irish Rose. Larry Adler, the harmonica player, is also
an Irish tenor and plays Danny Boy. Duffy is pleased and buys drinks for all. The further adventures of Two-Top Gruskin. Clancy
is also an Irish tenor and sings When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.
The Hypnotist regular Arthur Treacher (26:43) - 6.1mb Arthur Treacher, the new waiter, opens the show for Archie who
plans to hypnotize his new girl into falling for him. Yosha Panyaslovnyk shows up as the hypnotist's assistant and eventually
runs off with the girl.
The Radio Station guest Barry Nelson (24:58) - 5.7mb Duffy is behind in the rent and it's affecting Archie's reputation.
Duffy firss Archie so instead he quits to become an executive. Slippery McGwire sells him radio station equipment. Barry Nelson
comes in and meets the gang. Archie the disk jockey's first show: an interview with Barry Nelson squeezed between several
words from the third avenue sponsors, including Schimelbacher, Cavendish, and Yosha Panyaslovnyk's star pupil. The interview
is then pre-empted for poet's corner. Clancy shuts him down for not having a license, but Slip confesses the equipment is
bogus to keep him out of jail.
The Room Mate guest Sir Cedric Hardwicke (28:56) - 6.6mb Archie redecorates his apartment so he can take in a room mate.
Ms Duffy flirts with Sir Hardwicke but gives it up when she learns he's married. Finnegan does a Hardwicke imitation. Cedrick
agrees to be Archie's new roomy but changes his mind when he hears how it'll be decorated.
Three Days to Live (1:00) - 6.6mb After a checkup, the doctor diagnoses Archie as a hypochondriac
and gives him three days to settle his bill. The gang mistakenly believe Archie has three days to live and convince him he's
going to die.
Two Barbers of Seville (27:37) - 6.3mb Archie went to the opera and was so impressed he's going
to write his own. He invites Ms Piddleton and friends to attend. Ms Duffy auditions the Laughing Song, after which he decides
to leave out the singing. The opera: the barber (Archie)'s daughter (Ms Duffy) loves the apprentice (Yosha Panyaslovnyk) but
must marry the mortgager (Finnegan); in the end, everybody dies... and so does Archie's career in music.
Two-Top Gruskin (4:39) - 1.1mb Four and a half minute interview style talk in which Archie describes
the pitcher for the tavern's baseball team.
